My Artistic Process
My creative journey begins with traditional art—whether it’s a sketch, a painting, or a collage pieced together from elements my son and I create. I’m drawn to interesting shapes and organic forms, often finding beauty in the unexpected. Once I’ve gathered these fragments, I transition them into the digital world, where I explore and experiment.
In the digital space, I uncover hidden layers, manipulate textures, and adjust colors, slowly constructing compositions that evoke the natural world—plants, flowers, trees, and bodies—while maintaining a sense of abstraction. Through this process of layering and refining, I create pieces that merge the tactile essence of traditional media with the precision and depth made possible through digital manipulation.
Although my work currently exists primarily as digital prints, I am excited to explore the possibilities of bringing these pieces back into the physical realm by printing the digital art and layering traditional techniques on top of it. This fusion of digital and physical elements will allow me to blur the boundaries between the two mediums even further.
I’ve sometimes felt hesitant to share that my work is primarily digital, as there is a common belief that art must be something you can physically see hanging on a wall. I understand that people might feel disappointed when they learn a piece is a digital file, but I believe we are entering a new age of creativity. As much of our world becomes digital, there is a place for art that blends earthy, organic elements with this evolving medium. The time and creativity I pour into each piece is just as significant as any hand-painted work.
I’m particularly drawn to chaos, color, and movement—elements that mirror my free-spirited personality. I don’t stay within the lines, either in art or in life, and that freedom flows into my work. Over the years, my artwork has become brighter and more uplifting, reflecting a shift in my own outlook. Where I once focused on solitary figures, often sad or introspective, my current work is filled with joy, color, and a sense of lightness that I hope resonates with others.
Each piece is an exploration—a journey of discovery where I’m just as surprised by the outcome as the viewer. My intention is to create something that makes people feel, that lifts their spirits, and that brings a sense of brightness and beauty into the world. The intersection of digital and traditional art allows me to continue evolving, pushing the boundaries of what art can be, and I’m excited to see where this fusion will take me next.
